Program Age Requirement:

Miramont’s Adventure Leadership Program is for young adults between the ages of 12-17 yrs

Program Dates:

Week 1:  June 23rd-27th
Excursions Include: Hiking Eldorado Canyon, bouldering Red Feather Lakes, white water rafting on the Poudre River, day hike in Indian Peak Wilderness, Indoor rock-climbing technique workshop

Week 2:  June 30th-July 3rd
Excursions Include: Flat water kayaking skills training at Horsetooth Reservoir, indoor rock-climbing technique workshop, bouldering at Carter Lake, day hike in James Peak Wilderness, beach day at Horsetooth Reservoir

Week 3: July 7th-11th
Excursions Include: outdoor rock-climbing and anchor building workshop, day hike in Alderfer Three Sisters Open Space Park, bouldering in the Lumpy Ridge area of Rocky Mountain National Park, summit attempt of Gray’s and Torreys Peak, day hike at Bear Creek Lake Park

Week 4: July 14th-18th
Excursions Include: River boarding lessons with RipBoard, day hike in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, bouldering in Big Elk Meadows near Lyons, summit attempt of Mount Evans and Mount Bierstadt, day hike in Button Rock Preserve

Week 5: July 21st-25th
Excursions Include: Indoor rock-climbing technique workshop, bouldering at Horsetooth Reservoir, summit attempt of Quandary Peak, outdoor rock-climbing and anchor building workshop, day hike in Glen Haven

Week 6: July 28th-Aug 1st
Excursions Include: Outdoor rock-climbing and anchor building workshop, summit attempt of Mount Lincoln, Mount Cameron, and Mount Boss, day hike Horsetooth Mountain Park, Indoor rock-climbing technique workshop, bouldering at Flag Staff Mountain, Zip lining

Week 7: August 4th-8th
Excursions Include: High Ropes experience at CSU, day hike in Mount Evans Wilderness area, day hike Rabbit Mountain, Indoor rock-climbing technique workshop, bouldering in Vedauwoo, day hike in Rocky Mountain National Park-Gem Lake

8: August 11th-15th
Excursions Include: Flat water kayaking skills training at Horsetooth Reservoir, an adventure race at Horsetooth Reservoir, day hike Rocky Mountain National Park-Storm Pass, Indoor rock-climbing technique workshop, bouldering in Lumpy Ridge area of Rocky Mountain National Park, day hike in Rocky Mountain National Park- Twin Sisters

Miramont’s Adventure Program Leaders are looking forward to spending fun-filled days with your student! Our goal is to create a safe, energizing, and engaging environment that will enable your child to make new friends and increase their confidence through learning new skills!

Program Goals:

Program Leaders
We feel confident we have the best team around! The majority of our team comes from local colleges and universities with backgrounds in Recreation, Education, Fine Arts, Psychology, Sociology, Business and other diverse fields of study. Most importantly our team is made of individuals who LOVE working with young adults! They want to spend their time playing, teaching, and working with teens. All Miramont Adventure Leadership team members have completed extensive background checks, are Wilderness First Aid Certified, and have received extensive outdoor education training prior to the start of the summer. Rest assure, we are hiring “the best of the best” to work with your children.

Ratios
To maximize the learning experience and to maintain a safe environment, Miramont maintains a low student to team member ration that will not exceed a 1:6

What to Expect
Students enrolled in Miramont’s Adventure Leadership Program spend approximately seven hours daily actively engaged in an outdoor activity. The remainder of their time is spent in experiential leadership training and technical skills training. The purpose of the program is to build a community of young outdoor enthusiasts who are educated in how to safely have fun with friends and families in an outdoor setting by understanding what it means to “plan ahead and be prepared!” Students will check-in at the basketball court of Miramont’s North location between 7:00am-7:30am. All daily excursions depart at 7:30am sharp! Students will arrive back on site between 5:00-5:30pm.

i.    Leave No Trace Education
ii.    Leadership Development- decision making, group development, situational leadership, risk management, problem solving, strategic planning, and plan ahead/ preparedness skills
iii.    Technical Skills- top rope anchor building, outdoor cooking using Dutch Ovens and Fry Bakes, map, compass and orienteering skills, river reading skills, flat water kayaking skills, and river boarding skills
iv.    Trail Snacks
v.    Miramont Adventure Leadership (MAP) program T-shirt
vi.    All excursion costs are included
